It is much nicer to be warm
―
It is unhealthy and uncomfortable to be cold. Dog breeds that are originally
from warm climates need protection, particularly in cold seasons. Usually these
breeds do not have protective underhair whose thickness is crucial for the heat
insulation capability of the dog’s coat.
A dog’s age, size and state of health also affect how well it can withstand
cold. Slender breeds freeze faster than robust dogs, because their mass in
proportion to the area that dissipates warmth is smaller.
FOR PROTECTION AND GOOD HEALTH ―
The Hurtta collection has been designed for the everyday life and all seasons of
an active dog. Water resistant and breathable protective clothes are especially well suited for
dogs with a soft and long coat, whose coat becomes wet and dirty easily.
Using protective clothing protects both the dog and your home. The amount of
dirt carried into the home is reduced significantly, when you dress the dog in
proper clothing in muddy weather.
Protecting the coat is particularly beneficial for dogs that suffer from
allergies and skin problems. The dog will have fewer problems with its coat,
when its skin remains clean and dry in rainy seasons.
WHEN YOU DEMAND THE BEST FOR YOURSELF, DEMAND IT FOR YOUR DOG TOO
― It is Hurtta’s
objective to develop clothes for several different breeds and various uses. The
guiding principle is that the technical features of a dog’s clothes should be at
least as good as those of its owner’s outdoor clothing. Before any Hurtta
product is ready for launch, it has gone through hundreds of hours of testing
and fitting by its designers. In order to guarantee
the high quality of its products, Hurtta commissions testing of the suitability
of each and every material for dog clothing by a non-partial textile laboratory.
HOUNDTEX®
― Impermeability and breathability of the Houndtex® material are top of the line.
This material has been developed for particularly demanding circumstances and
heavy duty use. Thus it is perfectly suited for dog hobbies.
Hurtta’s proprietary Houndtex® is a wear resistant, breathable, water and wind
resistant material. The seams are taped, which guarantees impermeability.
All the garments, collars and harnesses are easy to maintain and withstand
machine washing at 104°F. Washing at a higher temperature and machine drying can
remove the taping from the seams. Do not use a softener, because it reduces the
impermeability of Houndtex.

Pro Collection Cooling Coat
This coat is simply PERFECTION FOR DOGS. We tested it out on our
almost 13-year-old Alfie as he is panting more and more these days when
outdoors. The coat was simple to put on and it seemed like Alfie handled
being out in the heat better than usual.
This is a fabulous safety item for our seniors as heat stress is
even more toxic for them.
The cooling coat is designed to make your dog more comfortable in hot weather
and when exposed to the sun.
The product is ideal for summer training for active dogs and for
outdoor dog shows. The coat cools the dog’s back and chest and helps to make the
heat more tolerable for your dog.
The Cooling Coat has an adjustable belt and collar and a
detachable belly flap. An opening on the back allows the leash to be fed through when
using a harness.
The coat is available in two marvelous colors: Blue and Lilac.
We love the blue for our Golden Alfie, the perfect boy color, for sure. And,
Lilac is wonderful for our girly girls.
Price: $75.99.
Exceptional Features:
- Cools and gives a feeling of comfort
- Ideal for training or shows
- Great for seniors & dogs in warm climates
- Comfortable to wear
- Adjustable waist and neck
- Simple: just rinse before use

MEASURING A
DOG AND INTERPRETING THE MEASUREMENTS
|
- Back length is measured from the withers to the
base of the tail while the dog stands in the normal
position (not from the collar). When measuring the
back length, be very careful as depending on the
dog’s position, the dimensions may vary by a few
inches.
- Neckline measurement is taken from the widest
part of the dog’s neck, i.e. from the base of the
neck. The neckline of the overalls may be a few
inches larger than the neck measurement, as the
neckline of the overalls can be adjusted smaller.
- Chest measurement is taken from the widest part
of the dog’s chest behind the forelegs. In order
that the overalls have sufficient room for movement,
the chest measurement of the overalls must be at
least 2 inches larger in small size classes and at
least 4-8 inches larger in large size classes.
Breeds with long and thick fur need more room for
the chest than dogs with short fur.
- Waistline is taken from the narrowest section of
the dog’s stomach in front of the hind legs. Always
in front of the sex organs of a male dog, however.
Together with the chest measurement, also the waist
measurement can be a few inches larger than the
dog’s waist measurement.
- Front leg inner length is measured from the
bottom of the chest along the inside of the leg to
the wrist bone. The front leg should be shorter than
the inside length of the dog’s leg. So that the dog
can safely run and play while wearing the overalls,
the front legs should at most reach the dog’s wrist.
The length is correct when the front leg reaches the
dog’s forearm.
- Note! If the overalls are acquired to protect
the fur of a longhaired dog, the legs can be longer
than listed above. However, the dog must be
monitored.
