When Emma Parsons, canine trainer and behavior consultant, discovered that Ben, her own prized golden retriever, was aggressive toward other dogs and that traditional remedies took his reactivity to nightmarish levels, she turned to clicker training. In the process, Emma developed innovative and highly effective strategies to calm, alter, and re-shape Ben's aggressive displays. Her work has since helped many clients successfully reduce and even erase their dogs' reactivity to both dogs and humans. More than 40 exercises in an easy-to-follow training recipe format, teaching how to: *Desensitize your dog to approaching stranger dogs *Allow you to grab your dog's collar without him snapping *Have your dog perform canine calming signals, instead of aggressive displays, on cue *Have your dog turn and give you eye contact whenever another dog approaches, or you tighten on the leash *Use your own body language when under stress as a cue for your dog to remain calm *And many more creative and effective uses of managing behavior through clicker training

The Clicked Retriever (2005)
The retrieve is one of the most difficult skills for most dogs to master in competitive obedience. It is difficult because it involves a long series of steps that the dog must learn in order to complete the exercise successfully. More and more trainers are realizing that teaching a complex series of behaviors like this is most easily done through the use of clicker training. The Clicker Retriever teaches you step-by-step how to clicker train your dog to do a solid, enthusiastic and reliable retrieve. Learning no-force techniques builds trust between you and your dog, makes training more enjoyable for both of you, and sets you up for life-long training success built on scientific principles, respect and fun. The Clicked Retriever also shows you how to apply retrieving skills to other activities such as flyball and service dog training.

Don't Shoot The Dog! The New Art of Teaching and Training (1999)
By Karen Pryor. One of our best selling teaching and training books. Not exclusively a dog training book - author is famous as an early dolphin trainer. Outlines 8 methods for putting an end to all kinds of undesirable behavior without yelling, threats, force, punishment, guilt trips - or shooting the dog; the 10 laws of shaping behavior through affection training; how to combat your own addictions to alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, overeating or whatever; how to deal with such difficult problems as a moody spouse, an impossible teen, or an aged parent; PLUS housetraining the dog, improving your tennis game, keeping the cat off the table, and much, much more! New revised edition has new chapter, "Clicker Training, A New Technique." This covers the use of clickers in dog training, why it works, and how it has caught on. There is little or no practical application here, so we recommend Karen's Clicker Training Start-up Kit or DTB622 Clicker Training for Dogs. This is the theory!

Competitive Obedience Clicks Video
Details of competitive obedience are taught using clicker methods. Training is very low-key, laid back, casual. *Recommended that this video be viewed in conjunction with Shirley's Clicker Cookbook & Training Log and/or Just Plain Clicker Sense, since the video jumps immediately into working with the dog, with little or no explanation of clicker training methods, how to use the clicker, etc. and very little explanation of what is happening during the training session.

Clicker Training for Obedience
In his much anticipated book, Morgan Spector answers all the familiar questions about clicker training: "Why can't I just use my voice?" "What if the dog doesn't obey?" "When can I get rid of the food?" Morgan will show you how to use clicker training, not just to solve problems, but to avoid them in the first place. With a focus on training for the Obedience ring, you might think this book is only for the future Obedience dog. Wrong! Your companion dog will also benefit from the chapters on heeling, turning, sits, downs, jumping, drop on recall, scenting, and much, much more. Bottom line: this is a great book! Clicker & Target Training (2003)
By Angela White. Clicker training is a motivational reward based system of training animals which encourages the animal to learn as opposed to being manipulated into exercises or tasks using traditional methods of training. Target training can be an extension of clicker training and can be used for many areas of animal training including competition, work, television and film or simply for fun. It can even be an aid to those who have mobility problems as the dog is trained to a target that becomes an extension to your arm as well as a very clear message to the dog. Once you have conditioned your pet to enjoy learning through this self-motivating process, you will have hours of fun together!
